We have revamped the AAAPC FACES group and now have a new name: AAAPC Early and Mid Career Academic (EMCA) Network. We are a network of PhD students, early- and mid-career academics working in primary care in Australia and New Zealand. The EMCA Network aims to provide:

  • Networking opportunities through connecting members of the network with one another and with other primary care researchers in Australia, New Zealand and other countries through our monthly newsletter, regular webinars, and annual conference
  • Mentoring, advice and collegial discussions about career advancement, support and opportunities for EMCRs through our mentoring program (to be announced in mid-2023)
  • Capacity-building opportunities through the sharing of information, events and resources among members of the network

Being part of the AAAPC EMCA Network will connect you with other researchers (including PhD students, early- and mid-career career, and more senior academics) working in a range of primary care fields including general practice, nursing, physiotherapy, dietetics, pharmacy, psychology and social work in Australia, New Zealand and other countries. Network membership is free and open to all HDR students and EMCA members of AAAPC.

How do I join the EMCA Network?

EMCA mentoring program and other activities in 2023

We will be launching an EMCA mentoring program later in the year. As part of this we will be seeking expressions of interest from HDRs and EMCA's to be matched with a more senior academic working in primary care. We will also be providing some webinars throughout the year, and networking opportunities during the AAAPC annual research conference. Please keep an eye out for further details over the coming months!
